Description

Description

Construction of a steel-wood bridge that crosses the Opinaca River. It is a 3-lanes bridge spanning 103.0 m. One abutment is a steel caisson on piles; one is a concrete abutment on rock. The piers are in steel and sit on piles. For the construction, B.E.S. proposed a non-conventional construction method whereby the bridge was assembled on shore before being pushed into place on rollers. This resulted in a savings of approximately one million dollars.
